And sure, the entire Roci crew would do the same for each other, but you never want to be the one that needed saving. She lives with the knowledge that Alex died saving her. Alex’s death is more for Naomi’s development now. The writers did what they could with what they had. After all, Anvar isn’t leaving on good terms.
He didn’t have the big sacrifice moment, and maybe that’s a good thing. The authors have stated that the decision to end the show after Season 6 had nothing to do with this situation. He didn’t suffer, but it did feel a little anticlimactic after everyone. Alex suffered a stroke that immediately killed him. The show has routinely told us this, with stroke being one of the things that would kill people after hard burns. He wasn’t responding to Bobbie’s calls to him because he’d died suddenly. Blood floated around him as he muttered something about a good burn. After saving Naomi thanks to her jumping out of the ship and Bobbie getting oxygen to her, we cut back to Alex still on the Razorback. In the end, it looks like it was possible for the show to add something in. After all, it was possible to have Alex head back to Mars to try to make things right with his ex and son rather than rejoin the Roci crew. So, would Alex be killed off in some way or would he just disappear on Mars? The fifth season seemed to be setting up both storylines. But the show had wrapped Season 5 filming when the final decisions were made.Īll we knew was that Anvar wouldn’t return for the sixth season. There needs to be some sort of reason to write someone out, especially when it comes to a character who has been there from the beginning of the series. A fine actor in his own right, he certainly has the chops to replace Cas Anvar. The Expanse season 4 is finally here, and what better way to celebrate the best SciFi series in the verse than to make Rocinante pilot, Alex Kamals. Rahul Kohli even fueled the fire himself with suggestions of a possible live-action portrayal of Star Wars Rebels character Ezra Bridger. He’s also been at the center of casting rumors, notably in Star Wars. The British actor most recently appeared in Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor. Could Rahul Kohli replace Cas Anvar on The Expanse? Kohli posted this side-by-side image of himself and “future Ezra” fan art from in follow-up tweet to dispel the rumor of his casting. Do they recast the role, or turn to a new character to pilot the Rocinante? If they are to stay in relative keeping with the books, then recasting is the option, and Rahul Kohli could fill the role nicely. Alex’s story continues in the books well beyond the events of the current television season.
That leaves the show’s production in a quandary.
